Registered in Ireland: A year-old boy fell asleep on a couch while he was in the middle of carrying out a house burglary in Dublin, a court has heard. The boy, who was accompanied to court by his mother and his solicitor, pleaded guilty to trespassing in a manner likely to cause fear at Mount Drummond Avenue on January 26 last.
Police say a couple in their 60s woke up in their Palo Alto, California bedroom around midnight last Saturday to find someone looming above them wearing a mask, or possibly a black T-shirt covering their face. The intruder asked for their wifi password. According to a city press releaseone of the residents sprung to action, shoving the intruder down the hallway and out of the house.
Christchurch District Court Judge Raoul Neave said the teenager had been extremely drunk at the time, and could give no explanation to police. Judge Neave said the teenager's life had begun to fall apart "in a major way" after his father's death. He had earlier been sent to prison because there was nowhere else for him to go.
Reardon Cronin, 18, broke into a property in Cardwell Avenue, Woodhouse on November 15 last year, while one of the occupants, a year-old boy, was home alone. Cronin, along with at least one other, gained access to the property by breaking a ground floor window using a spade he stole from the adjoining garden shed. He went downstairs to investigate.
